Students at Pink Tower International School have a thrilling and educational farm visit experience

Pink Tower International School’s farm visit was a highly anticipated event for both the students and the faculty. The students were excited about exploring the farm and learning about different animals and farming practices, while the faculty was keen on providing the children with an educational and fun experience.

The day began early, and the students were filled with enthusiasm as they boarded the school bus for the farm. Upon arrival, they were welcomed by the farm’s caretakers, who introduced them to the various animals living on the farm. The children were thrilled to see the pigs and piglets, rabbits, fish, geese, and sheep, among others. The caretakers shared fun facts about each animal, and the children had the opportunity to interact with them, feeding and petting some of the animals.

Next, the children learned about how a bio-digester works, which is a device that breaks down organic waste to produce biogas, which can be used for cooking and other purposes. They were also introduced to vermiculture, which involves keeping worms to produce organic fertilizer that is used on the vegetable farm. The students were fascinated to learn about these farming practices and their impact on the environment.

After learning about the animal farm and farming practices, the children went on to enjoy some outdoor activities. They had a blast zip lining across the farm, enjoying breathtaking views from above. The children also played on the playpen, which was a great way to let off some steam after the educational activities.

Lunchtime was a well-deserved break for the children, who were treated to a delicious meal consisting of chips, sausage, and salad, accompanied by a refreshing juice. They enjoyed the meal while sitting under a shaded area, taking in the beautiful scenery and fresh air.

After lunch, the children resumed the tour, visiting the vegetable farm. They were shown a variety of produce, including sorghum, kales, spinach, beetroot, sunflower, carrots, bananas, grapes, and different herbs like mint and rosemary. The children were fascinated by the variety of plants growing on the farm, and the caretakers explained how each crop was cultivated and harvested.

Throughout the tour, the school’s driver, Mr Mbugua, ensured the children’s safety, making the trip seamless and stress-free. The children enjoyed the farm visit immensely, and they left with a better understanding of farming practices, environmental conservation, and the importance of caring for animals.

In conclusion, Pink Tower International School’s farm visit was a resounding success. The children had a fun-filled, educational experience that they will not soon forget. The visit sparked their interest in farming and environmental conservation, and they left with a better appreciation of the hard work that goes into producing the food they eat. The school is grateful to the farm caretakers and Mr. Mbugua for their hard work in making the visit possible.
